A 48V LiFePO₄ battery is a popular choice for off-grid and solar energy storage, but matching the battery voltage alone does not guarantee inverter compatibility.
Most 48V LiFePO₄ batteries use a nominal voltage of around 51.2V. Before choosing an inverter, check that its battery voltage range and charging settings are suitable for your battery.
The next important factor is continuous discharge current. A battery may store a large amount of energy, but the inverter still needs to operate within the battery’s continuous current limits. Battery capacity in kWh determines how much energy is available, while inverter power determines how quickly that energy can be used.
Communication can also matter. Some inverter systems operate using voltage-based settings, while others use CAN or RS485 communication with the battery management system.
Before connecting a battery to an inverter, always check the battery voltage, charging voltage, current limits and communication requirements.
